Shijo-dori is a 7-kilometer-long stretch from Yasaka-jinja Shrine in Kyoto. It is referred to as the main street of Kyoto.
The Shijo-dori Street in Kyoto has a history that dates back to the Heian Period. The street also finds a mention in the city’s ancient records as well.
Take a trip to Kyoto’s Shijo-dori Street and find sprawling shopping arcades, great departmental stores, various specialty shops and small shops. You can find these arcades in Kyogoku-dori and Shinkyogoku-dori between Sanjo-dori and Shijo-dori or in Teramachi-dori, which is located between Oike-dori and Shijo-dori.
